About

At OBH Kitchens, there is nothing more satisfying than helping a client to realise their vision, It is never just about fitting a kitchen, It’s a creative journey.

Norman O’Brien and Sean Hennelly, both master carpenters, are the Directors and owners of OBH Kitchen Designers and Cabinetmakers. They worked together while training as carpenters from 1998 to 2002, and set up OBH Kitchen Designers & Cabinetmakers in February 2002.

At that time they used to take on the complete timber work for new build homes, including roof, 1st and 2nd fix, kitchens, utilities, wardrobes and stairs.

However, as their reputation for designing, manufacturing and fitting kitchens quickly grew, their efforts were diverted more towards kitchen design, manufacture and installation, with emphasis on hand-built bespoke kitchens and cabinetmaking.

OBH’s kitchen design and cabinetmaking skills and excellent reputation ensured survival throughout the recession in Ireland of 2008 and beyond.

In the early days, all kitchen’s plans and drawings were done by hand which was very laborious, then in 2007, the introduction of a computer-aided design system to the company meant they could offer their clients more plan views, a virtual walk through and 3D images in HD resolution.

Their vast knowledge and experience in the construction of homes from start to finish have proved invaluable, in fully understanding how to integrate a kitchen into a home in a professional and safe manner.

They prefer to work with a small to medium dedicated workforce, as this gives a more hands-on approach, which ensures a high quality of service and final installation. Clients have an additional benefit of having one of the Company’s Directors involved in their project from the outset right through to final handover.

OBH Kitchen Designers and Cabinetmakers already have many years experience in supplying hand made bespoke kitchens, both contemporary and traditional, and unique pieces of household furniture and woodwork, both fixed and stand alone. All design and manufacture is carried out in purpose built facilities in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo.

The OBH facilities include a comprehensive range of sophisticated woodworking machinery, 3D computer design system, painted finishes to any colour of a client’s choice, and a display of doors, drawer & door fittings, work surfaces and splashbacks in a vast range of materials, covering hardwoods, glass, granite and tiles.

A huge cost benefit is offered to clients, where OBH has much reduced overheads, compared to its competitors, due to having comprehensive in-house design and manufacturing facilities and that both Sean and Norman provide the sales function, as well as the majority of the design, manufacture and installation effort for each project. This also ensures that clients receive a highly personal service from the point of original enquiry, through to final handover of a completed project. OBH operate throughout the whole of Ireland.
